Care for the caregivers

 20,00
Care for the caregivers means to assist, guide and encourage people that help those infected with and affected by HIV and AIDS. This is based on practical experiences of ICAN members with HIV and AIDS, on the overburdening effects of this pandemic across the world.

This manual promotes the idea that attention for the well-being of caregivers is essential in this difficult area. It provides practical guidelines and examples of how to do so. It is foremost a working document with practical techniques, that aims to help take care of the well-being of all actual caregivers.

ICAN produced this manual to support programmes that care for the caregivers: people working in hospices caring for the dying, family members caring for their sick and dying relatives, homebased caregivers, grandparents caring for orphans and other vulnerable children, heads of child-headed households, and many others.

Suggestions, practical ideas or concepts from others to improve this manual are always welcome and can be sent to: info[@]icannetwork.org.

The International Christian AIDS Network (ICAN) seeks to promote a non-judgmental approach towards and – by also involving churches - acts as an advocate for those infected with and affected by HIV or AIDS (www.icannetwork.org).

Ricus Dullaert, Executive Director of ICAN, is a HIV and AIDS consultant in St. Joseph’s care and Support’s Care and Support Centre at Sizanani, South Africa.
